A long-time oil and gas state, Oklahoma already has a significant midstream infrastructure in place, said Paul Hart, editor-in-chief of Midstream Business. As emerging plays like the SCOOP and STACK ramp up, some operators will need to repurpose those assets but producers will not need to wait for construction projects to be completed as they do in areas like the Bakken or the Marcellus.

“For a producer, you couldn’t ask for better infrastructure than you have here in Oklahoma,” Hart said on the eve of Hart Energy’s DUG Midcontinent Conference in Oklahoma City.

Blessed with the Cushing crude oil terminal, the state is more than just home to SCOOP and STACK, the recent hot spots. Granite Wash, Western Anadarko and a host of legacy conventional plays provide numerous rich opportunities for producers to exploit.
