BP awarded TechnipFMC the contract to install pipe and an umbilical for the Argos Southwest Extension project in the Mad Dog Field, TechnipFMC announced Jan. 15.
Under the contract, which is valued between $75 million and $250 million, TechnipFMC will also manufacture and install pipeline end terminations.
The Argos Southwest Extension project will see three new wells tied back to BP’s operated Argos production semisubmersible in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The Argos platform produced first oil from the Mad Dog Phase 2 project in April 2023. The semi is moored in 4,500 ft water depth in Green Canyon Block 780. It has a nameplate capacity of 140,000 bbl/d of oil from up to 14 production wells and water injection capacity of 140,000 bbl/d through eight injectors.
BP operates the Mad Dog Field with 60.5% interest on behalf of Woodside Energy with 23.9% and Chevron affiliate Union Oil Co. of California with 15.6%.
