Chesapeake Midstream Partners LP (CHKM) announced that Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) has closed its previously announced acquisition of all of Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s ownership interests in the partnership. GIP paid $2 billion to acquire Chesapeake’s general partner and limited partner interests. This closing results in GIP’s ownership of 100% of the partnership’s general partner interest and 69% of the partnership’s limited partner units.
Currently, CHKM is the industry’s largest gathering and processing master limited partnership as measured by throughput volume. It owns, operates, develops and acquires natural gas gathering systems and other midstream energy assets in the Barnett, Haynesville and Marcellus shale plays and in the Midcontinent region.
