Brett Knowles, vice president of EnCap Flatrock Midstream, is today's featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
One of Knowles' most important career milestones came in 2015 when he assisted in the sale of Tall Oak Midstream to EnLink Midstream. During that time, he got to work under a mentor, Dennis Jaggi, and learn about the midstream deal-making process.
"The Tall Oak team was local, and I was there from the earliest beginnings—from first meeting the team, to forming a new partnership, to signing the first midstream contract that led to the buildout of two gas gathering and processing systems in Oklahoma," Knowles said.
"Less than two years later, a successful sale to EnLink led to a great outcome for both our investors and management," he continued. "It was my first ‘full-cycle’ investment experience, and I learned a lot seeing the process from start to finish."
Working among people passionate about bringing value to the world helps keep Knowles motivated about working in the oil and gas industry. Knowing that he's helping provide essential services to consumers everywhere has kept him captivated by the sector.
"It is a vital industry to economics, geopolitics and virtually all aspects of society," Knowles said. "The opportunity set is only expanding as energy demand grows and new technologies and sources enter the mix. It is really an exciting moment to be an energy investor, and the future is bright."
