Pantera Energy Co. implemented a modern SCADA system that integrates KEPServerEX with the Ignition platform from inductive automation, software development company Kepware Technologies said Nov. 12. Pantera will use the system to boost overall productivity and support real-time remote intervention and production operations management.

Previously, human pumpers had to monitor and manage wellsite locations and produced water disposals daily. The new system provides real-time remote data acquisition, monitoring, and control of assets in the field, and Pantera can operate its wells at higher efficiencies by analyzing site-specific, day-to-day processes and adjusting them even when offsite. Remote login capabilities are available.

Jerrod Kee, operations specialist, said the company could not find another SCADA system capable of supporting applications for metering, compressors, saltwater disposal, and pump off controllers. He added that there have been substantial returns on investment.

Pantera Energy Co. is based in Amarillo, Texas, and operates in the Texas Panhandle and western Oklahoma.
