Operations at the Stampede Lateral crude oil transmission pipeline in North Dakota began Feb. 9, Summit Midstream Partners LP (SMLP) said. Crude oil on the line is delivered to Global Partners LP's Basin Transload rail terminal, which offers single-line rail access to Global's Albany, N.Y., terminal.
The Stampede Lateral connects SMLP’s Polar & Divide crude oil gathering system with Global’s Basin Transload rail terminal near Columbus, N.D., providing Global and other producers in the region with up to 60,000 barrels per day (Mbbl/d) of crude throughput capacity.
The 46-mile, 10-inch diameter transmission pipeline originates at SMLP's newly built Divide Station, which offers truck unloading capabilities and 75 Mbbl of crude storage capacity. The Stampede Lateral is underpinned by a long-term, fee-based contract with Global, SMLP said.
The nearby Little Muddy crude transmission pipeline, which includes an interconnect with Enbridge’s North Dakota Pipeline system, is in the final stages of completion. This development project includes 14 miles of 10-inch diameter crude transmission pipeline with throughput capacity of 27 Mbbl/d.
Crude delivered to the Little Muddy interconnect will ship to various downstream markets including Chicago and Patoka, Ill., Cushing, Okla., eastern Canada and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Customers on SMLP’s Polar & Divide gathering system now have two new delivery points. Previously, crude on this system was delivered exclusively to the Colt Hub rail terminal in Epping, N.D., the company said.
The Little Muddy Pipeline will connect the Polar & Divide system with the North Dakota Pipeline system in Williams County, N.D., via Enbridge's Little Muddy facility near Marmon, N.D.
Summit Midstream Partners LP is based in The Woodlands, Texas.
