Savage Bakken Connector Inc. launched a binding open season on May 5 to solicit commitments its pipeline that would connect Savage Services Corp.’s Bakken Petroleum Services Hub in Trenton, N.D., to the Dakota Access Pipeline near Trenton, N.D.

The 2-mile crude oil pipeline will have an initial capacity of 60,000 barrels per day (bbl/d) when it goes into service on June 1, 2017, Savage said. The company seeks commitments from shippers of at least 10,000 bbl/d for a minimum of 18 months. The pipeline will be regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the open season lasts until May 19.

The pipeline will provide customers with greater optionality in the Bakken when combined with the Trenton hub’s existing outbound options. It will offer a direct, pipe-to-pipe connection from Savage’s hub to the Dakota Access system for further transport to prime markets.
