Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Petrochemical Co. signed a license agreement with The Dow Chemical Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology LLC for its UNIPOL polypropylene (PP) process technology, an all gas-phase process system with fluidized-bed reactors and CONSISTA and SHAC catalyst systems used for producing PP resins.
The 540 KTA PP production facilities will be located in Ras Laffan, Qatar, and will produce homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers from a mixed feed cracker.
Resins produced from Dow by UNIPOL account for 17% of global PP output, the company said in a release
