Tallgrass Energy Partners LP (TEP) will connect its Pony Express Pipeline to Holly Frontier Corp.’s El Dorado, Kan., refinery complex.
The connection facilities will have a design capacity of more than 100,000 barrels per day and be able to handle any of the batched common stream crude oil types transported by the Pony Express.
Construction is expected to be completed by fourth-quarter 2017.
“This agreement is another important milestone for Pony Express as we continue to diversify the supply and demand connections on the pipeline to provide the most flexible transportation system for our customers,” David G. Dehaemers Jr., Tallgrass president and CEO, said in a statement. “This connection to Holly Frontier’s refinery complex does exactly that, and in addition it supports the long-term growth of the pipeline.”
