Propane stock levels remained stagnant in October 2009, which is the latest information available from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, as they dropped 1% to 2 million barrels from the previous month.

Although this represented a 2% decrease from the same time in the previous year and a 43% increase during a six-month period dating back to May, the stock level remained within the average for October during the past 17 years.

EIA defines propane as “a normally gaseous straight-chain hydrocarbon. It is a colorless paraffinic gas that boils at a temperature of -43.67ºF. It is extracted from natural gas or refinery gas streams. It includes all products designated in ASTM Specification D1835 and Gas Processors Association specifications for commercial propane and HD-5 propane.” – Frank Nieto
