Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America LLC (NGPL) executed binding agreements with several companies to support the first phase of its Chicago Market Expansion project, the company said April 14.
Antero Resources Inc. (NYSE: AR), Nicor Gas, North Shore Gas and Occidental Energy Marketing Inc. will transport natural gas from the Rockies Express Pipeline interconnection in Illinois north on the Gulf Coast Mainline system.
The Rockies interconnection is in Moultrie County, Ill.
The first phase of NGPL’s Chicago Market Expansion will increase NGPL’s capacity by 238,000 dekatherms per day and serve several markets near Chicago. The contracts’ average term is more than 11 years.
NGPL will file a 7(c) certificate application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in June.
The project is scheduled to be in service in November 2016.
NGPL has about 9,200 miles of pipeline, more than 1 million horsepower of compressor facilities and 288 billion cubic feet of working gas storage.
Houston-based Kinder Morgan Inc. (NYSE: KMI) operates NGPL and owns a 20% interest. Myria Holdings Inc. owns the remaining interest.
