Sideboom attachment

Midwestern Manufacturing Company has announced commencement of production of its newly designed sideboom attachment for the new John Deere 1050J model crawler tractor. The new pipelayer has a maximum lift capacity of 140,000 lbs. and was developed by Midwestern’s engineering group working closely with John Deere Construction Division engineers and senior representatives. The new Midwestern proprietary sideboom attachment for the John Deere 1050J follows last year’s design for the 1050C model, which was field-tested on a 36-in. job last year by a major US mainline contractor. The John Deere tractor with the Midwestern sideboom attachment has produced a pipelayer that has received high praise for its overall balance, visibility and single lever joystick controls. Midwestern expects a strong demand for these large model John Deere pipelayers. The new 1050J model as well as the Midwestern sideboom pipelayer attachments on the 750J and 850J model tractors are now available through the John Deere Construction Division Dealer network. Midwestern is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and for over 50 years has engineered and manufactured specialized pipeline construction equipment. sales@sidebooms.com

Ultrasonic meter

Sonix 2000 is the latest addition to the Sensus family of industrial/commercial ultrasonic meter. It is a self-contained, fully-functional electronic, digital meter that allows you the option of integrated corrected volume. Live pressure correction and most of the other technologically advanced features incorporated into the Sonix 2000 are designed around one primary goal – to save utilities substantial money upfront and throughout its long operating life. www.sensus.com

Super Padder

CRC-Evans Pipeline Equipment is now offering their most advanced, highest-volume padding machine. Built to handle today’s widest pipeline diameters of 36-in. and greater, the Super Padder has been engineered to increase productivity, efficiency and safety on the job. Screening huge piles of dirt for ditch padding requires heavy-duty equipment combined with ease of operation. The Super Padder is self-loading and self-propelled, allowing operation with less equipment and manpower. A single operator controls the machine by a wireless remote that manages speed, direction and all other functions from a safe distance with maximum visibility. Designed by Laurini, the Super Padder is ultra-stable and can work uphill or downhill. The machine is track mounted to handle the biggest jobs in the toughest terrains, with a high-frequency vibrating screen that outputs vast volumes of fines from either side and from varying distances. Screened rocks and debris are discharged outside of the track path, either into the ditch or away from it. sales@crc-evans.com

Plugging system

In response to the demand for a true double block and bleed capability in high pressure environments, T.D. Williamson, Inc. introduces the latest advance in pressurized piping system technology – the STOPPLE® Train plugging system. The STOPPLE Train plugging system is unique because it links two plugging heads into a “train” capable of providing a double block and bleed function. Whereas other methods typically require more than one hot tap and fitting to achieve double block and bleed, the STOPPLE Train plugging system requires only one. The need for double block and bleed is especially prevalent in the refinery industry, where plants contain high concentrations of personnel and large infrastructure investments. To introduce the STOPPLE Train plugging system to market, TDW is releasing a focused initial wave of five plugging head sizes specifically selected to cover about 80 percent of hydrocarbon processing industry applications. The 4-, 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-inch sizes are all designed for use with Schedule 40 pipe, and all are rated to 1,000 psi at 180°F, or to 600 psi at 350°F. www.tdwilliamson.com

Hot tap sleeves

Dresser® Style 50 mechanical sleeves are integrated with Blackhawk LS2 LineStop flange fittings to provide an efficient hot tap of cast iron pipe under pressure. In addition, Blackhawk sleeves can be custom-built to accommodate a variety of branch service connection outlets and coupled with Dresser bolted couplings for P. E. service connections. Pre-engineered configurations reduce inventory and installation costs while eliminating the need for field cutting, welding, coating and testing.

Pressure switch

NOSHOK has introduced the new 800/810 Series Electronic Indicating Pressure Switch/Transmitters, designed to provide continuous pressure monitoring and allow the programming of set points without pressurizing. These switches offer two switching outputs, or one switching output and an analog (4-20mA or 0-10 Vdc) transducer output. Two buttons allow easy adjustment of the set points, contact functions (normally open/normally closed), reset points, contact types (npn/pnp) and switching function (hysteresis/gate). Other features include integrated password protection, and a higher maximum pressure than anything comparable on the market (9999 psi). The 800’s convenient 330 rotatable indicator head and optional turntable process connection provide ease of installation and wiring. www.noshok.com

Smart pump

Colfax Corp. has announced the development of an intelligent concept pump with the ability to monitor its performance, adjust to changing conditions and order its own replacement parts, all without human supervision. The company unveiled the Imo TX2020 concept pump at the Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine (SMM) International Trade Fair in Hamburg, Germany, in September. While Colfax highlighted marine applications at SMM, the TX2020 concept pump also holds much promise for remote pipeline locations or power plants and other facilities that need to operate at high capacity. Developed at the Colfax facility in Stockholm, Sweden, where the rotary positive displacement three-screw pump was invented, the TX2020 concept pump continually monitors flow rate, pressure, liquid viscosity (thickness) and energy consumption. If it determines adjustment is necessary to maintain flow, it can change speed or heat the liquid, to lower its viscosity. The concept pump was designed for a variety of configurations; for example, it can operate by itself at a remote pumping location or be connected to a network of pumps managed at a central office. www.colfaxcorp.com

Gas flowmeter

With the new ALTOSONIC V12, KROHNE has launched the next generation of ultrasonic gas flow meters for custody transfer applications. KROHNE has now answered the call for increasingly accurate flow meters in a world of increasing energy prices. The ALTOSONIC V12 has 12 measuring chords, two of which are solely dedicated to diagnostic functions. Once commissioned, it continuously checks the operating status. The positioning of the chords in five horizontal parallel planes compensates for swirl and thus provides reliable measurements even with highly distorted flow profiles. The meter is available in sizes DN 100 – DN 600, an installation length of 3D, and a maximum operating pressure of 150 bar. It is compatible with commonly used protocols and can be seamlessly integrated into any existing infrastructure.www.krohne.com

The new custom bend components, produced to customer specifications with thin wall (.065) 304 and 309 stainless, carbon steel and aluminum tubing in size ranges from 1-1?2 in. OD through 8-in. OD. sales@morriscoupling.com.

Bucket wheel

Vermeer Corporation has introduced a high-capacity bucket wheel attachment for the installation of small-diameter, cross-country pipelines. The bucket wheel attachment is designed to work with the Vermeer T655 COMMANDER 3 tractor. The bucket wheel is designed to help increase productivity in soft soils. Instead of the typical chain configuration, which positions the carbide trencher teeth in a specific formation or pattern, the wheel features a series of buckets, which rotate in a circular motion helping move more dirt from the trench. Optional pingo teeth, which enhance the removal of dirt are also available. The attachment has a cutting width of 22, 24 or 28 inches (55 cm, 61 cm or 71 cm), depending on the size of buckets used. www.vermeer.com
