A joint venture between Tesoro Refining & Marketing Co. LLC and Savage Cos., Vancouver Energy is a proposed crude oil terminal to be located at Port of Vancouver USA. The terminal will be designed to crude-by-rail shipments for loading onto ships for transport to refineries on the U.S. West Coast.
According to the joint venture’s website, Vancouver Energy will reduce the need for foreign oil imports, which currently account for 50% of the total crude oil processed by West Coast refineries. The supply of North American crude oil Vancouver Energy could ship to those refineries could reduce reliance on foreign imports by 30%, the company says.
Vancouver Energy is planned for location on 42 acres on Port of Vancouver property. The project’s current design allows for up to 360,000 barrels per day to be handled at Vancouver Energy, with the ability to handle one to two trains per day initially. The project is permitted for up to four.
