Williams has received Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval to build its U.S. $197 million Momentum expansion project.

Momentum is designed to increase gas deliveries to markets in Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas. The project calls for 99 mi of looping in eight segments along the Transco system, between Station 65 in Louisiana and Station 165 in Virginia. Also, more than 79,000 hp of compression will be added at existing stations. Original plans for the project called for compressor station modifications to begin in August, with looping construction to start in September. A May 2003 completion is planned.
