Magellan Midstream Partners LP extended its open season for commitments on the Saddlehorn Pipeline. The pipeline will provide transport for various grades of crude oil from the Niobrara play in northeast Colorado to Magellan’s storage facilities in Cushing, Okla. Binding commitments are now due by 5 p.m. Central time on Feb. 27.

The Saddlehorn Pipeline includes construction of about 600 miles of 20-inch diameter pipeline with a transport capacity of up to 400,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Platteville, Colo., to Cushing. Subject to sufficient shipper support, Magellan could add more origin points.

Magellan is currently obtaining permits and rights of way and has secured an 80-acre tract of land to serve as the pipeline’s origin. Subject to receipt of necessary permits and regulatory approvals, the pipeline is expected to enter service during second-quarter 2016.
