The FERC has granted Kinder Morgan’s request to begin the pre-filing process for its $500-million Louisiana pipeline project. The project involves building a 137-mi, 42-in. natural gas pipeline that would provide take-away capacity from the Cheniere Sabine Pass LNG plant now under construction in Cameron Parish.
As proposed, the Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline would originate at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal and extend approximately 137 mi before terminating in Evangeline Parish. This large-diameter line would connect to various interstate and intrastate pipelines within Louisiana; and new a one-mile, 36-in. pipeline would connect it to the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America system. Pending timely approvals, an April 2009 completion is planned.
