INVISTA, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, announced the introduction of Raptor nylon pipe, the industry’s first nylon 6-6 homogenous single wall line pipe. The pipe is designed to withstand temperatures up to 200 F and pressures up to 500 pounds per square inch (psi).
Key features of Raptor nylon pipe include:
- Performs in temperatures up to 200 F;
- Maximum operating pressure up to 500 psi;
- Fast installation with coils;
- Requires no de-rating for liquid hydrocarbons;
- Has better abrasion resistance compared with steel and high-density polyethylene (Tested against 3-inch .188 ERW A53/x42 steel and 4710 HDPE); and
- Has better impact resistance than fiberglass, HDPE and their composite pipes.
The pipe comes coiled in up to 2,000-foot sections. The pipe is suitable for applications ranging from multiphase flow lines to low pressure natural gas gathering and water transportation. Its product portfolio includes two-inch, three-inch, four-inch and six-inch IPS and SDRs seven, nine and 11. Six-inch pipe is expected to be available in the fourth quarter.
