The U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted Kinder Morgan Inc. early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act for its proposed acquisition of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP. The acquisition was announced on Aug. 10, along with acquisitions of Kinder Morgan Management LLC and El Paso Pipeline Partners LP, neither of which required Hart-Scott-Rodino filings.
The transaction, valued at about $70 billion, is expected to close by the end of 2014 after unitholder and shareholder votes and standard regulatory notifications and approvals.
