Pipeline service provider T.D. Williamson (TDW) announced the completion of a pipeline reversal for a gulf coast operator. The pipeline was a 300-mile, 22-inch diameter Gulf Coast crude oil pipeline with a transport capacity of about 360,000 barrels per day, the company said in a statement.
The pipeline was originally designed to flow from east to west, but was reversed due to the development of new shale oil reserves near the western terminus. The reversal allowed the crude from those reserves to reach eastern refineries.
The project was completed in four months, and included replacement of in-line valves along the entire stretch of pipeline.
