Gibson Energy Inc. will add more storage capacity at its Hardisty West terminal, the company said April 27. There will be an additional 900,000 barrels (Mbbl) of storage capacity when the terminal is expanded, the company said.
The Hardisty West Terminal was developed in 2011 as a joint venture with Suncor for construction of four storage tanks totaling 1.2 MMbbl. The terminal eases transportation of Sunco’s crude oil.
Expanding the terminal will allow Suncor 75% more storage capacity for 2.1 MMbbl by mid-2017.
Doug Wilkins, COO, said new storage tanks will be built on both Hardisty East and Hardisty West acreage.
The new storage capacity is expected to be in service by mid-2017.
Gibson Energy Inc. is a Calgary, Alberta-based midstream company.
