Japanese business newspaper Nikkei announced that Russia’s Gazprom reached an agreement with Japan’s Itochu Corp. and Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Vladivostok, Russia, that will transport gas to Japan.

According to the report, the facility will ship up to 5 million tons of LNG per year to Japan beginning as early as 2017. The agreement is expected to be officially signed in November when Russian President Dmitry Medvedev attends the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Yokohama, Japan. – Frank Nieto
