Gregory C. King and Dave Kurtz were each promoted to managing partner, and Dennis J. McCanless was promoted to partner, EnCap Flatrock Midstream said July 27.
King joined EnCap Flatrock as senior adviser in 2015, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry with a focus on liquids. He is based in the San Antonio office.
Currently, King serves on the board of directors for several EnCap Flatrock portfolio companies, including Evolution Midstream LLC; Gravity Midstream LLC; Lucid Energy Group II LLC; and Moda Midstream LLC.
From 2003 to 2007, he was the president of Valero Energy Corp. During this time, he was a member of the board of directors of Valero’s midstream business, Valero LP, which is now NuStar Energy LP.
King earned a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1985 and was a partner at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP’s Houston office from 1985 to 1993. He earned a bachelor’s of business administration degree from the University of Texas in 1982.
Currently, Kurtz is on the board of Tall Oak Midstream II LLC, and is also a director at Cardinal Midstream II LLC and Lucid Energy Group II LLC.
He is based in EnCap Flatrock’s Oklahoma City office.
Prior to joining EnCap Flatrock in 2014 as managing director, Kurtz was president and partner of the E&P company Alpine Inc. Kurtz has more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, and has handled A&D and commercial transactions for midstream and upstream.
Prior to working at Alpine, Kurtz was the vice president of business development for OGE Energy Corp., an Oklahoma public utility, and its subsidiary Enogex Inc., an unregulated midstream company.
Kurtz earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Kansas and a master’s of business administration degree from Oklahoma City University.
Currently, McCanless is the president and a member of the board of directors of Toledo Bend Midstream LLC. He is also a member of the board of directors of EagleClaw Midstream LLC; Stakeholder Midstream LLC; and Tradition Midstream LLC.
McCanless has been with EnCap Flatrock since the company was formed, joining as a managing director. He is based in the San Antonio office and has more than 27 years of experience in the midstream and energy space, handling operations, strategic planning, asset management, commercial contracts and transactions.
He joined Flatrock Energy Advisors in 2007, and prior to that, he was president and CEO of Gas Solutions Holdings Inc. For the five years prior, McCanless was the director of commercial assets for Enbridge Energy’s Texas Panhandle/Western Oklahoma and South Texas systems.
McCanless earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Houston.
