The Energy Department issued a final authorization to Emera CNG LLC received final authorization from the Energy Department to export domestically produced CNG to non-Free Trade Agreement (FTA) countries, a press release said Oct. 20.

Emera can export CNG up to the equivalent of 0.008 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas for 20 years from its proposed Port of Palm Beach, Fla., facility.

CNG will be exported via trailers, tank containers, and carriers to any non-FTA country not prohibited by U.S. law or policy.

The Energy Information Administration forecast a record average production rate of 78.92 Bcf/d of gas in 2015.
