Commercial operations began at the Permian Rail Park, the newest addition to Twin Eagle Sand Logistics LLC’s terminal network, the company said Feb. 16.

The Permian Rail Park is located on the Union Pacific Railway about 8 miles from Big Spring, Texas. The 530-acre rail park is Twin Eagle’s fifth terminal development and serves the Midland Basin.

Phase I of the project comprised more than 33,000 feet of rail track, which will be initially used for rail-to-truck frack sand transloading services. Twin Eagle also has Phase II plans to develop a loop track capable of supporting crude-by-rail market activity and infrastructure to handle trucking solutions for both crude and frack sand.

Griff Jones, CEO, said centrally located unit train-capable terminals reduce rail costs and last-mile costs for well completion.

Twin Eagle Sand Logistics has terminals in the central and south Eagle Ford, near the D-J Basin and in the Powder River Basin.

Twin Eagle Resource Management LLC is based in Houston.
