Cheniere Energy Inc.’s (NYSE MKTS: LNG) board of directors has two new members after vacancies were created by two resignations.
Replacing Jonathan Christodoro and Samuel Merksamer, who departed on Aug. 14, are Andrew Langham, general counsel of Icahn Enterprises LP (NASD: IEP); and John J. “Jack” Lipinski, CEO and president of CVR Energy Inc. (NYSE: CVI).
Langham joins the Cheniere board’s governance and nominating committee. Lipinski was appointed to the audit committee and the compensation committee.
Langham has been general counsel of Icahn Enterprises since 2014. From 2005 to 2014, he served as assistant general counsel of the company. Prior to joining Icahn Enterprises, Langham was an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP focusing on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters.
He received a B.A. from Whitman College and his J.D. from the University of Washington.
Lipinski is CEO, president and a director of CVR Energy and holds the same roles of the general partner of CVR Refining LP. He is also executive chairman of the general partner of CVR Partners LP.
Prior to the formation of CVR Energy, Lipinski was CEO and president of Coffeyville Resources LLC beginning in 2005. He began his career with Texaco Inc. and joined The Coastal Corp. in 1985, eventually serving as vice president of refining with overall responsibility for Coastal’s refining and petrochemical operations.
When Coastal merged with El Paso Corp. in 2001, Lipinski was promoted to executive vice president of refining and chemicals, where he was responsible for all refining, petrochemical, nitrogen-based chemical processing and lubricant operations, as well as the corporate engineering and construction group.
Lipinski left to be an independent management consultant in 2002, then became managing director and partner of Prudentia Energy, an advisory and management firm, in 2004. he graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a B.E. in chemical engineering and received his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law.
